Can’t make it today — cancel, sick day, or cut the visit short

Today is off. Say that first. A cancel today text takes the visit off the calendar — booking a new day is a different message.

Change the name and the time you were supposed to arrive.

When to use this

Same-day cancel

You’re not coming. Don’t pick a new slot in the same note.

Hi Jordan — I have to cancel today’s visit. I’m sorry for the late notice. I’ll mark it off on my side.

You’re not well enough to work

Today cancelled; you’ll check in when you can work.

I need to cancel this afternoon — I’m not well enough to work. Today is off. I’ll check in tomorrow.

Short

They already know the time. Kill the slot.

I can’t make our 2:00 today. Consider it cancelled. I’ll text when I’m back on the calendar.

Emergency / unavoidable

Honest, brief, no overshare.

Hi Alex — something came up that I can’t move. I have to cancel today. I’m sorry. I’ll reach out tomorrow to find a new time.

Cancel now, rebook in the next text

You will offer times soon — not in this message.

Hi Jordan — today’s visit is cancelled on my end. I’ll text later today with two options for a make-up.

Sick day — closed today

You’re sick and can’t work. Say it early so nobody waits at the door, and say what happens to tomorrow.

Cancel today’s booking

Their visit today is off.

Hi Alex — I’m sick today and have to cancel our visit. Sorry for the short notice. I’ll text tomorrow to find a new day that works for you.

Closed today, reopen tomorrow

Whole day dark. Back tomorrow.

Hi — I’m closed today (sick). I’ll be back tomorrow and will reply then. Sorry for any inconvenience.

Standing appointments tomorrow still on

Today’s out; next day’s still booked.

Hi Jordan — I’m sick and need to cancel today. Your standing appointment tomorrow is still on unless you hear otherwise. I’ll confirm in the morning.

Contagious / stay away

They may prefer distance.

I’m under the weather and don’t want to bring it into your house. Can we move to Thursday or Friday?

Had to leave early / cut the visit short

You started the visit but had to leave early (emergency, illness, overtime elsewhere). Say what got done, what remains, and how you’ll make it right.

Partial work, partial bill

They should not pay for a full visit you didn’t give.

Hi Alex — I have to wrap up and leave. The kitchen is done; I didn’t get to the bathrooms. I won’t bill the full visit.

Stopped at a clean break

The rest can wait. You’re not claiming it’s finished.

Something came up and I need to go. I stopped at a clean break. I can finish the rest another day if you still want that.

Left mid-job

Be specific so they know what they’re walking into.

I have to cut today short — about 40 minutes in. The hallway is patched; the paint will have to wait. Sorry to leave it mid-job.

Emergency pullaway

Life happened.

Hi Alex — I had to leave for an emergency. Kitchen and baths are done; floors aren’t. I can finish tomorrow at 9 or Thursday at 1 — which works?

Billing partial

Fairness.

I got through about half before I had to go. I’ll only bill for what’s finished unless you want me to complete it Thursday.

Cut short — makeup visit offered

Finish later.

Hi Jordan — I had to cut today’s visit short after 45 minutes (family emergency). I finished the kitchen and baths; living areas still need a pass. I can come back tomorrow at 10 at no extra charge — does that work?

How to send it

Copy one message, swap in the real name and time, and send from your own phone or email. Keep it to a few sentences. If they need a different topic, use a Related link below instead of mixing two subjects in one text.
